Using PDFs on the MiAEYC site

Throughout the MiAEYC site, you will find links to pages in Portable Document Format (PDF). This kind of file allows you to view a document in the format in which it was originally created. All systems will read the file in the same way, and the document that shows up on your screen will exactly match the one we created. MiAEYC finds PDFs especially useful for forms, publications, and materials you may wish to print and reproduce.

By downloading the free Acrobat Reader software from Adobe, you can view all of the PDFs on the MiAEYC site and elsewhere on the Internet. To download Acrobat reader:

• click on the icon anywhere it appears on the MiAEYC site, or

• type the Adobe URL into your browser: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

Once you have installed Acrobat Reader, you are ready to view PDFs. You only need to install Acrobat user once.

When you click on a PDF link, one of two things may happen, depending on the computer system and web browser you are using:

1. The document will open automatically. A new window will appear and you will be able to view the PDF.

2.  The PDF will download to your desktop. It will seem as if clicking on the link does nothing. No new window will appear and you will not see the document. However, if you close or hide your web browser, the document's icon will have appeared on your desktop. Click on the icon to view the document.

If you experience problems using PDFs on the MiAEYC site, please contact the Webmaster. We wish to facilitate easy access to the documents and forms MiAEYC produces.
