CPSC, Simplicity Inc. announce recall of Graco Branded Aspen Cribs for Suffocation Risk. The screws on the wooden mattress support can come loose allowing a portion of the mattress to fall, posing a suffocation hazard to young children. The recalled cribs are made of wood and have a wooden mattress support. Only cribs with wooden mattress supports and with model number 8740KCW SC and serial number 2803 SC to 1605 are included in this recall. The model and serial number are printed on the envelope attached to the mattress support. Consumers should call Simplicity Inc. to receive a retrofit kit. CPSC, Maxim Enterprise Inc. announce recall of Mini Learning Cube Toy sold at Target. Small wooden pegs in the top corners of the toy can come loose posing a choking hazard to young children. The recalled learning cube is an 8-inch square wooden box with a different activity on each side, including an abacus, blocks with apples and bananas, shapes that can be moved in a zigzag cutout, and a blackboard. The wooden cover has spiral bead maze with wooden beads that slide up, down and around. Consumers should immediately take the recalled learning cube toy away from young children and return it to Target for a $15 gift card plus applicable state tax. CPSC, American Greetings Corporation announce recall of Fairy Wand Party Favors. The fairy wand party favors can break apart, exposing sharp wires that pose a laceration hazard to children. The recalled fairy wands are pink or purple with multi-colored beads, feathers and ribbons. The wands are 7-inches long. There are four wands in each package. The packaging has a light pink cardboard backer. Model number WAND1361 is written on the back of the

CPSC, Dorel Juvenile Group USA announce recall to Repair Battery-Powered Ride-On Vehicles. An electronic malfunction can occur in the ride-on vehicle's circuit board and/or battery connector, resulting in smoking and melting of components. This poses a vehicle fire hazard and a burn hazard to consumers if components are touched while malfunctioning. The recalled battery-powered ride-on vehicles include the Pink Corvette(r), Torch Red Corvette(r), Yellow Race Car Corvette(r), Red Electroplate Corvette(r), Fire Engine, and Batmobile(r) with the model numbers listed in the chart below. They were sold under the brands Safety 1st and Kid Trax by Safety 1st. The ride-on vehicles were manufactured between January 2004 and August 2005. The manufacture date is located on the underside of the unit and is molded into the plastic body as shown below. The circle on left displays the month of manufacture, the circle on the right displays the year of manufacture. The model numbers are located on the underside of the vehicles near the date code.

  10/18/05 CPSC, Target announce recall of Jumbo Pencils with Sharpeners. The sharpener's razor blade is exposed when the cover is removed. Also, the pencil sharpener hole is large enough to allow a finger to fit inside. This poses a laceration hazard to children and adults. The jumbo pencil has a red eraser on the end and comes with a pencil sharpener. Pencils are either short, eight inches long and one inch wide; or long, 15 inches long and one inch wide. The pencils are blue, red or striped. The sharpeners are pink or blue and come in a clear plastic pouch. Model number 70505 is printed on the pouch. Consumers should take the recalled jumbo pencil with sharpeners away from children immediately and return them to the nearest Target store for a Gift Card of $1 plus applicable state tax.   10/11/05 CPSC, Design Ideas Ltd. announce recall of Bean Bag Furniture Sets. The chair and ottoman do not have locking zippers or warning labels. CPSC is aware of children who have died from suffocation when they unzipped, inhaled and ingested small pellets in similar bean bag furniture. The Lily chair and Lily ottoman were sold together as a bean bag furniture set. The chair and ottoman sets were sold in ivory/white (model 170001), ivory/blue (model 170003), ivory/black (model 170004) and ivory/orange (model 170009). Model numbers can be found on a label affixed to the bottom of the furniture. The fork that holds the front wheel can separate at the weld,  causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries. CPSC, Atico International USA, Inc. announce recall of Children's Arm Band Pool Floats sold at CVS stores. The seams of the inflatable arm bands can tear, causing them to deflate. This poses a drowning hazard to young children. The recalled plastic inflatable arm band pool floats are bright orange on the outside and white on the inside with an inflation valve on each side. They are imprinted with a "Surf Club" logo, "CVS/pharmacy" and "Caution: This is not a lifesaving device. Do not leave child unattended while in use." When inflated, the arm bands measure about 8-inches long by 6-inches wide.   9/1/05 CPSC, American Greetings Corp. announce recall of Sesame Street Sunglasses. The lens in the sunglasses can separate from frames, posing a  choking hazard to young children. This recall involves DesignWare(r) child-size sunglasses with Sesame Street character decals. Sold in quantities of four, each package contains a yellow, blue, red and green pair of sunglasses. The bright green cardboard backer has the Sesame Street and DesignWare(r) logo on the front, and model number SUN-1219 on the back.   9/1/05 CPSC, Walt Disney World Co. announce recall of Children's Red Sunglasses. The paint on the red sunglasses contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. The recalled sunglasses are a solid red color and have dark plastic lenses. They were sold with either a navy blue toddler cap
featuring the character Mickey Mouse or a light blue toddler cap featuring the character Stitch. Both toddler caps have red bills. The recalled sunglasses are attached to the bills of the caps by a red strap with a hook and loop fastener. "Walt Disney World(r)" or "Disneyland(r) Resort" is stitched on the back of the toddler caps. Other styles and
colors of hats and sunglasses are not included in this recall. CPSC, ZoloWear announce recall of Infant Carriers/Slings. The stitching that attaches the webbing to the carrier/sling can break, posing a fall hazard to young children. CPSC, Almar Sales Co. announce recall of Children's Watches. The band on the watch contains liquid petroleum distillates. If punctured the watch band could leak. Petroleum distillates could be harmful if ingested and cause irritation to the skin or eyes on contact. The watches are made of clear plastic with white snaps. The watch bands have clear glitter-filled liquid and colored liquid inside including pink, blue, red and yellow. The watch face is digital and measures about two inches in width. "Water Watch" and "Almar Sales Company" is printed on the original clear bubble packaging of the watches. Consumers should immediately take these watches away from young children and return the watches to the store where purchased for a refund or contact the firm. CPSC, The Gymboree Corp. announce recall of Baby Sandals. A plastic flower attached to the sandals can pull or snap off, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall includes the Caroline Flower Baby Sandal with SKU number 140002069 sold in sizes 1 to 8. The SKU number is printed on the price tag above the bar code. The sandal has a white upper sole and a cork covered outer sole. A white decorative plastic flower is attached to the top of the front strap. The front and back strap have adjustable touch fasteners. The name "Gymboree" is printed in aqua on the sole of the sandal. Consumers should immediately stop using the sandals and return them to a Gymboree store for a refund. CPSC, Fourstar Group announce recall to Repair Kid's Folding Chairs. The chair's safety lock can fail, allowing the chair to collapse or fold unexpectedly. Children's fingers can become caught or entrapped in the hinge and slot areas of the chair, posing a pinch or cut hazard. This can cause severe lacerations and finger tip amputations to children's fingers. The recalled kid's folding chairs are made of metal tubing with a vinyl padded seat and seat back. They were sold in red, blue, yellow, green, pink, and lavender solid colors. They also come in pink with "Princess" printed in red on the seat and seat back along with stars, crowns and hearts, or in blue with pictures of basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, football helmets, and rollerblades. The recalled chairs were sold individually or as part of a set consisting of a table and two chairs. Each chair is about 22-inches high, 13.5-inches wide, and about 11.5-inches deep. "MANUFACTURED BY FOURSTAR GROUP INC." OR "IMPORTED BY FOURSTAR INTERNATIONAL TRADING COMPANY" is written on a label located underneath the seat of the chairs. The recalled chairs were sold as part of a set consisting of a table and two chairs. Each chair is about 22-inches high, 13 inches wide, and about 11 inches deep. A red and white "A" patch is sewn on the front, a blue "3" decal is on one sleeve and a red football is on the other sleeve. The recall included jackets sold in sizes 2 months through 18 months. Style number "432740" is written on the laundry care tag inside the jacket. "H&M" is written on the collar label. CPSC, Target announce recall of Children's Toy Trucks. Small parts could break off the truck, posing a choking hazard to young children. The recall includes four-piece "So Hot Way Cool Free Wheel" Truck sets. Various trucks sold in the sets include a combination of fire trucks, oil trucks, vegetable trucks, sanitation trucks, tow trucks and box trucks. Writing on the trucks includes, "EMERGENCY" or "CITY SERVICE." The words "So Hot Way Cool Free Wheel Truck" and the item number 204 02 0838 are written on the packaging. The handlebar can crack or break causing the handlebar to possibly detach while in use, posing a risk of injury to young children. Sycamore has received 10 reports of handlebar either cracking or breaking when the stroller was pulled up or taken down stairs. No injuries were reported. CPSC, NBTY Inc. announce recall of Nature's Bounty and Natural Wealth Brand Multivitamins. The vitamins contain iron, but do not have child-resistant packaging as required by federal law. They could cause serious injury or death if ingested by a child.
The Nature's Bounty and Natural Wealth brand multivitamins have lot number 60835-06 written on the label. The recalled vitamins were sold in containers of 100 caplets. The containers are both clear with white caps. They are labeled "Nature's Bounty Multi-Day
Multivitamin Plus Iron" or "Natural Wealth Daily Vitamin Plus Iron." Sold at Various drug and grocery stores and independent distributors nationwide from July 2004 through March 2005 for about $4. Consumers should keep this product out of the reach of children and return it to the store where it was purchased or contact NBTY for information on receiving a refund or replacement.   7/8/05 CPSC, Pokémon USA announce recall of Pokémon Plush Toys. The stuffing of the toy may contain tips of sewing needles which could pose a puncture hazard. The recall involves 10 "Pokédoll" plush toy characters including Pikachu, Minun, Plusle, Skitty, Evee, Munchlax, Mew, Ho-Oh, and Lugia. Pikachu comes in a 12-inch and a 6-inch tall version. All of the other characters are approximately 6-inches tall. They have a sewn-in label that reads: "Pokémon Center ©2005 Pokémon /Nintendo /Creatures/ GAME FREAK" on one side and "2005 MADE IN CHINA" on the other. CPSC, Graco Children's Products Inc. announce recall of Duo Tandem and Certain MetroLite(tm) Strollers. These strollers can fail to latch properly and unexpectedly collapse while in use. This can result in broken bones, cuts, bumps, bruises and other injuries to young children riding in the stroller and consumers pushing the stroller.

For the Duo Tandem strollers, Graco has received reports of 306 collapses causing 230 reported injuries, including a broken arm, and a cut to a child requiring 46 stitches.

For the MetroLite strollers, Graco has received reports of 223 stroller collapses causing 34 reported injuries including 18 bumps and bruises to the head or body. Other injuries associated with both strollers include cuts, scrapes, scratches, pinched fingers and muscle pulls.

The recalled Duo Tandem strollers, manufactured between 1994 and 1999, have two seats, one seat in front and one seat in back. The strollers have a blue, white or green plastic and steel frame. They have four wheels in the front and two wheels in the rear. The cloth seats and tops have various colors and patterns. There is a label with the model and serial number on the stroller's frame. Only strollers with serial numbers and model numbers listed below are included in this recall.

The recalled MetroLite strollers, manufactured in 2000 and 2001, have a blue, gray or black plastic and steel frame. The cloth seat and top have various colors and patterns. The strollers have four wheels in the front and two wheels in the rear. These strollers were sold as a stand-alone stroller and also as part of a travel system that included an infant car seat/carrier and a base. The car seat/carrier is not affected. There is a label on the cross bar under the foot rest containing the model and serial number. Only strollers with serial numbers between 10012000 and 12312001 in the first 8 digits and the following model numbers are included in this recall.

CPSC, Dorel Juvenile Group issue alert on Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seats. Dorel Juvenile Group has received nine reports of breakage due to use of Tubside Bath Seats in non-traditional or sunken bathtubs. An additional 67 reports of breakage due to handling, assembly and unknown reasons also were received. There was one report of a child bumping his forehead when a bath seat tipped over in a non-traditional tub, resulting in a bruise.
These Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seats have model number 44301 engraved on the bottom of the base. "Safety 1st" is printed on the front of the units. They are white and blue, have a swivel seat and an elbow cushion on the attachment arm. These seats are intended for use with children from 5 months to 10 months of age.

Consumers are urged to ensure that these bath seats are used in accordance with the instructions:
This product is NOT for use with the following style tubs:
* Tubs with edge width less than 3 inches or greater than 5 inches.
* Tubs with depth (top to bottom) less than 12 inches or greater than 15 inches.
* Free standing (legged or pedestal), oval, drop-in, or spa type tubs
* DO NOT use the bath seat if the Red Warning Label on the arm is exposed.
