Michigan. Staff work flexible hours and are fully remote.

Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager plays an integral role in the day-to-day management of accounting tasks by coordinating the various activities involved in maintaining the general ledger, revenue recognition, expenditures, assets and liabilities, payroll and benefit functions. Preparation and review of journal entries and understand grant-related financial reporting. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring successful completion of month-end close, completeness, and accuracy of financial reports, and adherence to procedures and internal controls, among other duties. Excellent time management, critical thinking, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and diligence to ensure the timely completion of tasks are some of the skills required for success in this position.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or equivalent and two years to five years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer service experience required
• Proficiency with computer technology including accounting software and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations
• Fund Accounting Experience and/or use of Blackbaud Financial Edge Accounting Software preferred
• Prior to employment, candidate must pass a drug-screening test and undergo a reference and security check.

Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Director of Accounting to perform the following essential functions including but not limited to:
• Perform accounting related functions such as general ledger reconciliations, preparing journal entries, understanding financial statements and grant-related financial reports.
• Maintain payroll components of the benefits management software system which may include updating employee benefit information and the building of reports for general ledger reconciliation.
• Process payroll by reviewing and compiling timesheets as well as post-payroll reporting such as importing general ledger information into the accounting software.
• Prepare, understand, and submit all payroll related required state and federal tax reports or others such as W-3s and W2s.
• Assist in Agency audits such as the single audit and workers compensation audit.
• Responsible for the preparation and review of board designated and restricted accounts on a quarterly basis in comparison to benchmarks.
• Maintain fixed asset subledger, depreciation and reconciliation schedules.
• Attending Michigan AEYC programs, events, and meetings as requested.
• Other work-related duties as requested by the Executive Director and Director of Accounting.

Compensation:
