RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Early Childhood Education Site Manager is responsible for the daily management of the Children’s Learning Center and Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) located at the assigned site, the Walled Lake or Pontiac location. The Early Childhood Education Site Manager is responsible for implementing and supervising all program components, including (but not limited to): childcare services, preschool and summer camp programming, onboarding, training and professional development of all assigned classroom teaching staff. The Early Childhood Education Manager reports to the Director of Early Childhood Services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/JOB EXPECTATIONS:
Program Management
Provides program supervision to assure that state licensing requirements and standards promulgated by our accreditors, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Oakland County Health Department, Oakland Intermediate School District, and the Michigan Department of Education are met and adhered to and that contractual obligations are fulfilled. Maintain standards of State licensure including knowledge of all licensing rules and timely reporting of potential violations to both internal and external authorities. Provides frequent and regular classroom coaching and observations. Provides supportive feedback, models strategies to teaching staff surrounding best practice, HighScope implementation, classroom management and lesson planning. Observes and evaluates program delivery and curriculum. Monitors and assists in the implementation of positive behavior strategies and plans. Responsible for monitoring classroom ratios and compliance. Provide classroom coverage when necessary. Analyzes Child Observation Record (COR) data to support teaching teams in lesson planning and programming for high quality child outcomes. Participates in analyzing program data from PQA (Program Quality Assessment) and COR (Child Observation Record) results and input from Oakland Schools to set, implement and review program goals. In conjunction with the Director of Early Childhood Services, develops and monitors Early Childhood program budgets and ensures that programs stay within budget parameters. Responds to any parental concerns and questions about the overall program implementation and learning environment. In conjunction with the Early Childhood leadership team assists in the planning and implementation of the department and Agency events such as quarterly meetings and trainings, etc. Provides direct oversight to contracted services, including coaching/curriculum supports and mental health consultation. As appropriate, coordinates with other site leadership. “Monitors for and identifies potential risk situations and reports to the appropriate authorities within required time frames: or “within 24 hours”.

Represents the Agency in the community by participation in seminars, workshops, committees, and other arenas relevant to the field of Early Childhood Education. Promotes the Agency position and programs to various related interest groups in the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to be physical and capable of successfully managing an early learning environment. The employee is frequently required to sit and/or stand for 8 hours or more. Staff must have the ability to reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift up and move up to 25 pounds. Some driving is necessary. Occasionally, the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level of the work environment is typically moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job you may encounter sporadic interruptions which may affect the efficient completion of the day’s tasks. This position requires an individual who is capable at efficiently handling multiple tasks of different natures and dealing with individuals of various temperaments. This position requires working evenings on occasion to complete enrollments and participate in parent events as well as weekends during the summer for community events attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development. Master’s Degree preferred. Three to five years teaching experience. Selected candidates for this position must possess a sensitivity to the diversity of the Agency’s service population including (but not limited to) differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic characteristics. Familiarity with the utilization and implementation of the HighScope Approach. Leadership experience preferred. Trauma Smart or CPI Certification preferred. Skills in organization and management of materials and resources. Excellent communication skills that focus on positive and professional communication with children, parents and staff members. Ability and skills in the team approach to planning and problem solving.\Other relevant qualifications that support positive performance in the position. Ability to accept supervisory direction and to work independently on assigned tasks. Skill in office procedures, data entry and human services.
Special abilities and skills that are necessary to perform the required tasks and that best meet the needs of the Agency also will be considered. Any standard above may be waived when compensating specifications or circumstances.
