Job Description:

Little Lambs at Christ Church Cranbrook, located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is recruiting a PreK Lead Teacher for our Child Development Center.

The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in a child-related field, and experience as a Lead Teacher in a classroom. This full-time position offers medical benefits, a retirement plan with employer match, a life insurance policy, paid holidays, and paid time off.

At Little Lambs, we serve children from 6 weeks through 5 years in a Christian-centered environment, providing full child care. Our center is open year-round Monday-Friday; with closures on most federal holidays.

Job Summary: Responsible for daily management of the classroom by guiding each child in their spiritual, emotional, social, academic, and physical growth so each child receives a solid educational foundation aligned with High Scope’s Key Developmental Indicators (KDIs). Must also believe in and follow the philosophy and goals of Little Lambs while adhering to all State of Michigan licensing regulations and Little Lambs’ staff handbook policies.

Starting Salary: $38,000 – $41,000

Position Requirements:
● Able to perform the physical requirements of the position (e.g., able to lift children and/or equipment up to 40lbs, able to stoop, bend, sit, and stand for extended periods)
● Proven history of classroom management
● Successful experience in establishing best practices
● Able to leverage relationships with staff, children, and parents to create a superior learning environment
● Warm, supportive, attitude toward children
● Reliable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
● Flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program
● Willing to accept supervision and open to feedback to improve work performance
● Willing to perform all other duties, as required

● Design appropriate room arrangements to support the goals of the classroom
● Maintains a safe, home away from home, orderly environment both indoors and outdoors
● Serves and/or prepares meals and snacks to children while promoting healthy eating practices
● Aware of children’s allergies or food restrictions
● Completes necessary paperwork (daily reports, incident reports, injury reports) on a timely basis
● To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
● Follows routines with smooth transition periods
● Exhibits sensitivity and understanding of individual and cultural differences
● To advance physical and intellectual competence
● Understands and communicates with families about general program information
● Seeks input from team members in decision-making and problem-solving processes
● Is flexible, open-minded, receptive to alternative approaches and constructive feedback
● Informs the Director of necessary information relating to behavior management, care, and safety of the children
● Attends staff meetings, participates in required workshops and in-service training
● Always maintains confidentiality of children and families
