Job Description:

Qualifications:

A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement;
or A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education.
Ability to pass a background check Negative TB test result

Preferred:

2 Years or more teaching experience in Early Childhood.
CPR/First Aid Certification
Training and knowledge of Creative Curriculum

Responsibilities:

Must have the ability to understand preschool children and find teaching them a pleasure. Energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork required. All candidates should have a warm and friendly presence, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy and curriculum.
Understand and support the Mission, vision and curricular philosophy of the District and Early Childhood program.
Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in literacy, language, mathematics, science, social and motor skills.
Develop and use instructional materials suitable for a learning environment for children with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
Encourage children to express themselves creatively in art, music, movement and dramatic play.
Provide a welcoming and supportive climate to establish and reinforce acceptable child behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
Implement developmentally appropriate instruction for children using a research-based Curriculum.
Follow the daily schedule as outlined in the curriculum
Provide small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communications skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of self-concepts.
Maintain routine schedule of observations, data collection, data input, and interpretation.
Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age-appropriate instructional support
Create and update anecdotal records and portfolios for each child.
Assist in the orientation and training of support teachers.
Collaborate with the Assistant teacher in planning, team meetings, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
Communicate regularly with parents by means of a newsletter, notes, phone calls, home visits and individual parent conferences.
Promote parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children.
Conduct two home visits and two parent teacher conferences per year with Assistant teacher to partner with parents to meet the educational needs of their children.
Assess family’s needs and assists with follow up.
Participate in center team meetings.
Implement program policies, Potterville School District Policies, and State Licensing guidelines.
Maintain child records and information with confidentiality.
Ensures the classroom is a safe and healthy environment.
Ensure the safety of all children through constant supervision.
