TITLE: GSRP Lead Teacher

SUMMARY: The GSRP Lead Teacher is assigned to and responsible for a GSRP preschool class at the Wyandotte Public Schools Early Childhood Center. Along with the Associate Teacher and Teacher Assistant, the Lead Teacher will provide an appropriate and safe climate; establish and reinforce acceptable pupil behaviors, attitudes and social skills by teaching and reinforcing PBIS expectations; and plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons in accordance with State guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities across all learning domains
• Work collaboratively with teaching team to:
o create a welcoming and effective learning environment.
o support challenging behaviors o maintain the classroom environment day to day
• Provide support and guidance to the Associate Teacher and Teacher Assistant to lead small groups, collect assessment information, and support the needs of all students.
• Conduct home visits and family conferences as required.
• Communicate regularly with families and promote parent participation and involvement in the program.
• Maintain, complete and adhere to deadlines for all necessary records.
• Participate in professional development.
• Maintains current MDE teacher certification as applicable.
• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with teaching team, program staff, students, and families.
• Develop and maintain a positive coaching relationship with the program’s Early Childhood Consultant.
• Work collaboratively with Special Services staff and the teaching team to collect data and implement support plans for students as necessary.
• Ensure licensing ratios are maintained.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of Wyandotte Public Schools, the Early Childhood Center, the Great Start Readiness Program, and State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Guidelines.
• Other related assigned duties as needed by the Director of Early Childhood Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a specialization in preschool teaching. A valid Michigan teaching certificate with a ZA or ZS endorsement is preferred.
2. Must have, or be able to obtain, CPR and First Aid certification.
3. Must pass a Comprehensive Background Check.
4. Knowledge of HighScope Curriculum and COR Advantage is preferred.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The GSRP Lead Teacher reports directly to the Director of Early Childhood Education and works cooperatively with other early childhood staff within the Early Childhood Program.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Work Year: end of August – beginning of June.
• Work Week: Monday – Friday, 7:45am – 3:45pm; 40 hours/week
• This is an at-will, contracted position through a third party contractor.
• Base salary: $26.44 per hour.
• Holidays and sick days per annual Work Agreement.
• Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
