GSRP ASSISTANT TEACHER at Pooh Corner, Liberty School

JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist in leading and managing a GSRP classroom under the supervision of the lead teacher, supporting the teacher with various tasks and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification
Successful completion of CDA, with at least two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a teaching assistant in an early childhood classroom.

Preferred Education/Certification
An associate degree in early childhood education or child development with at least one year of experience as a teaching assistant in an early childhood classroom.

Two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a teaching assistant in an early childhood classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom, including supervising transitions, activity time, and outdoor activities.
Assisting the teacher with lesson plans, activities, and individual student needs, including children with special needs.
Helping with children’s basic health needs, meal preparation, serving, and preparing children for nap time.
Observing children’s development, social-emotional needs, and any potential concerns, and reporting these observations to the teacher. Assisting the lead teacher in documenting children’s progress in COR Advantage.
Supporting the teacher with classroom management, maintaining a tidy and organized learning space, and assisting with positive behavior management strategies.
Participating in parent-teacher conferences, communicating student progress, and answering parent questions.
Assisting with planning and preparing activities using the High Scope curriculum..
Helping with maintaining student records, such as ASQ, attendance, progress notes, and assessment.
Attending in-service training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Other essential functions as assigned by the supervisor.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of families.
Record maintenance skills.
Ability to provide activities for children that encourage growth and development.
Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
The successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and a negative TB test result.
The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal, and fingerprinting background check.

FLSA STATUS
Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Approximately 32 hours per week

PAY RATE
$22-26 per hour commensurate with education and experience
