Co-Lead Preschool Teacher (3-4 year olds)

Job Description:
The U School is seeking a dedicated Co-Lead teacher for a three-turning-four-year-old classroom for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year, to begin as soon as possible. The candidate will receive mentorship in the U School Approach under a founding Lead Teacher, to position the candidate for a prospective Lead Teacher position in the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education with Lead Teacher qualifications defined by MiLEAP. Prior experience with the Reggio Emilia Approach and/or the Project Approach is strongly preferred.
DUTIES
– Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
– Collaborate with the teaching team to design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to the U School Approach, incorporating Project- and Inquiry-Based Learning as well as elements of the Reggio Emilia Approach.
– Collaborate with the teaching team and parents/families to identify, develop, and engage in early intervention strategies for children requiring additional support.
– Foster and maintain positive relationships with parents, children, co-workers, and community partners.
– Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times by meeting all demands of the position.
– Participate in ongoing professional development to meet licensing requirements and further develop expertise in the field of early childhood education
EXPERIENCE
– Must meet Lead Teacher qualifications according to MiLEAP’s Licensing Standards for Child Care Centers. (See: https://theubuntuschool.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/FINAL-2025-Child-Care-Center-Licensing-Rule-Set.pdf [pg. 28])
– Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a child-related field is strongly preferred.
– Previous experience with the Reggio Emilia Approach and/or the Project Approach is strongly preferred.
– Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and coworkers.
– Strong organizational skills to orchestrate and implement classroom management strategies.
