GSRP LEAD TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The instructor is to oversee and implement all aspects of the operation of the GSRP classroom, ensuring a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This includes planning and delivering instruction, assessing children’s progress, and collaborating with staff and families.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification Associate degree, with at least three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a lead teacher in a GSRP classroom. Preferred Education/Certification A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. Preferred Experience Three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a lead teacher in a GSRP classroom
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Develops and implements age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the Michigan Early Childhood Standards.
Provides direct instruction, manages the classroom, and supervises teacher assistants or aides.
Observes and assesses children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, documenting progress and communicating with parents.
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized learning environment that is developmentally appropriate.
Communicates regularly with parents and families, collaborates with other staff members, and participates in professional development.
Ensures compliance with Michigan Licensing requirements.
Ensures compliance with WISD regulations and guidelines for the GSRP class.
Work with the Saline Area Schools Special Early Childhood program to develop and implement individualized plans for children with specific needs or developmental delays.
Manages classroom behavior using positive behavior guidance strategies.
Use COR Advantage to track children’s progress and document developmental milestones.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all families.
Record maintenance skills.
Knowledge of the best practices in early childhood education
Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
Ability to evaluate, design, and implement High Scope curriculum and early childhood teaching methodologies
Ability to provide activities for children that encourage growth and development.
Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
Knowledge of the High Scope curriculum and the COR Advantage assessment tool.
Knowledge of the CLASS tool.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS
Considerable physical activity.
Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Physical work is a primary part of the job.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
The successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and a negative TB test result. The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal, and a fingerprinting background check.
FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Approximately 32 hours per week
A full benefit package as defined by the Saline Area Schools Administrative Association (SASAA)
PAY RATE $22-26 per hour commensurate with education and experience
