Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
We’re looking for an energetic, caring, and dependable Lead Teacher to join our team. This position works primarily with children ages 3 to 4, providing a safe, nurturing classroom where kids can learn and grow through play and structured activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Plan, supervise, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and daily activities for the children in your care in accordance with the policies and philosophy of CCDC and the State of Michigan (MSU Theme Approach).
– Create and maintain an organized, engaging, and well-managed classroom environment
– Guide and support assistant teachers, delegating tasks as needed to keep the classroom running smoothly
– Model positive behavior and help children build problem-solving and self-regulation skills
– Communicate effectively with parents and staff about each child’s progress and classroom happenings
– Work closely with your teaching team and leadership to meet licensing and safety standards
– Adapt quickly to changes in routines or children’s needs
– Attend required training and staff meetings to stay current with best practices
– Maintain annual training hours of 24 clock hours to be finished within 1 calendar year.
– Child screeners (ASQ-once a year) and assessments (LAP-twice a year) are completed
online.
– Keep child assessments and portfolios up to date
– Conduct Parent Teacher conferences twice a year.
– Ability to use an iPad efficiently
QUALIFICATIONS:
– CDA, associate degree, or actively working toward a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
– Previous experience working with children, preferably in a lead role
– Experience with lesson planning and child assessments preferred
– CPR, first aid, and required health clearances
– Able to pass a background check including fingerprinting
– Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle a busy, active classroom
– Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility
– Good leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
– Flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow with your team
– This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, standing, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, lifting, bending, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, singing and visual acuity.
SCHEDULE:
– Full-time, Monday through Friday (no weekends)
