Job Description:

Shining Star Pre-School is looking for a qualified Early Childhood Lead Teacher to join us in our Classic (M-Th) GSRP classroom. This individual will plan, teach and observe age-appropriate activities for children using the Creative Curriculum.
This is a full-time position from September to June. Fridays may be 1/2 days, a minimum of 36 hours per week. Hours tentatively are 8:15 am to 4:45 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. Summer Camp hours may be available from June through August.
Benefits include five paid sick days earned through ESTA, and health insurance for the employee after 90 days of on time employment.
Qualifications:
· Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education – or you may be able to go onto a compliance plan with an Associate Degree in ECE while attending classes for a Bachelor’s in ECE
· Have a Fingerprint Clearance and Background check. Arranged with the Director.
· Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields
· Maintain 24 hours of training each school year at 2 hours per month through a MiRegistry account. Must have MI health and safety training each year.
· Attend Meetings/trainings required by State of MI Licensing Dept (MiLEAP).
· Certification in CPR and First Aid
· Passionate about working with children with an ability to build rapport.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Be Physically able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Responsibilities:
· Instructing preschool-aged children in Developmentally Appropriate activities designed to promote social emotional, intellectual and creative growth
· Create lesson plans based on the children’s individual goals
· Develop and follow schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime
· Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
· Communicate with parents on students’ growth and progress
· Maintain the health and safety of all students and staff
· Follow State of MI Licensing and Regulatory Affairs – Rules and Statues (LARA/MiLEAP). Follow all additional guidelines as needed. CACFP, Health Dept., Fire Dept., MDE/MISD/GSRP.
· Serve meals to the children following CACFP guidelines
· Maintain a clean and sanitized classroom.
This is a small overview of what a teacher does in a day. The staff must always work together, being flexible in taking care of anything that needs to be done.
