Job Description:

A GSRP teacher at Bright Light ECE preserves the wonder of childhood while helping children develop the confidence and skills for their soon to be youth transition. This teacher fosters critical thinking, connects intentionally, encourages child reasoning, and supports group skills. HighScope curriculum, home visits, child conferences, classroom observations, data collection & data conferences are all part of this role.

In the classroom, adult expectations are balanced with child accountability and children’s social-emotional skills are prioritized along with developmental growth. Teachers support child choice through guided reasoning and focus on open ended ideas & activities over outcome based directives.

A trusted relationship with children’s families should be established through daily app updates and in person communication, at home visits, and during child conferences.

A GSRP Teacher will be considered credentialed for the position with minimally any of the following:

Option A:
– A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Early Childhood General and Special Education birth – kindergarten (ZN) or Lower Elementary Education PK (ZO) endorsement; or
– A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education ; or
– A bachelor’s degree in elementary teaching with a valid Preschool CDA.

Option B:
– Persons who have significant but incomplete training in early childhood education, or child development, OR who have five or more years of experience as a GSRP associate teacher, Head Start, or licensed child care center may be employed.
