Job Description:

Position/Job Title: Associate Teacher – Great Start Readiness Program

Summary: The classroom associate teacher is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational program for assigned students.

Job Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development, or the equivalent;
OR a valid classroom CDA credential.

Job Responsibilities:
Plan, implement and monitor curriculum.
Participate in recruitment, application and enrollment process.
Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
Assist children with personal health care needs, including toileting.
Knowledge and experience in working with Preschool and Early Child Education.
Work collaboratively and communicate with teaching team partner regarding children’s behavior and progress.
Follow written IEP and support plans and ensure requirements of IEP are followed in relation.
Engage with children in all areas of the program and parts of the day.
When needed, assist with the medical needs of students.
Observe child performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
Participate in trainings and on-going professional development.
Ability to plan, prepare materials, and carry out activities that are fun, educational, and foster personal-social, physical, and academic skills.
Ability to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families.
Ability to work well with diverse families.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to apply common sense understanding and learned skills while interacting with students and adults.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
Frequently stand, walk, sit, talk or hear.
Regularly reach with hands and arms.
Regularly lift up to 40-70 pounds.
Occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.
Employee must possess physical ability sufficient to employ physical intervention strategies when necessary, i.e. non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
Consistent, regular and predicable attendance is essential.
