Job Description:

Here at Little Learners, we are providing a true home away from home for our children and our staff. We are a family-owned childcare center that provides early education for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Our mission is to ensure the highest quality care through the loving hearts and gentle hands of our caring and well-trained educators. Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Lead GSRP Teacher at our Washington Township location. In this position, you will have the opportunity to prepare children for Kindergarten by teaching lifelong lessons that allow them to develop confidence and thrive through multi-sensory learning experiences. Responsibilities for GSRP Lead Teachers Include:

-Provide high quality care for the children while meeting all of the planning, assessment and professional duties of the GSRP program
-Manage classroom activities designed to promote cognitive, physical and social-emotional development with age-appropriate instructional support
-Follow the daily schedule as outlined in the curriculum and GSRP guidelines
-Work with individual and small groups of students to develop routines and monitor behavior to ensure adequate interaction, rest and playtime
-Create portfolios for each child and update records through ongoing assessments
-Communicate with families to provide updates on children’s growth and progress
-Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and staff
-Create a fun environment while maintaining the health and safety of the children
-Participate in continuous professional development, as well as any school activities, meetings or events that contribute to the mission of the program

Qualifications for GSRP Lead Teachers include:

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Lead Teacher, preferably in a GSRP Program
-Must have one of the following education requirements: 1) Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a Specialization in Preschool Teaching; or 2) Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate along with a ZA and ZS, Birth-K, or PK-3 Endorsement; or 3) Willing to meet approved compliance plan while completing the above listed education
-Strong understanding of child development and principles of early childhood
-Meet background check requirements with fingerprint clearance
-Reliable attendance, performance and physical ability to do the job
-Basic computer skills to provide daily logging of child’s information
-Excellent attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities
-Effective oral and written communication, organizational and instructional skills
-Familiar with safety and sanitation guidelines for the classroom

Compensation:

-Rate of pay is based on level of education and experience in the field of early childhood
