Job Description:

Wee Love Daycare and Learning Center is a mission of New Life Christian Church. As an extension of the church, we minister and teach Christian standards. The Lead Caregiver, under the supervision of the Center Director, is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a developmentally based educational program with measurable outcome for children ages 3 to 4 years old.

Qualifications:

At least 19 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
Must have 12 credit hours in early childhood education, with hours specific to infant/toddler development, an associates/bachelor’s in early childhood education or CDA
Ability to effectively interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner
Ability to relate positively to parents, families, and staff in a professional manner
Must have a working knowledge of State and Center policies
Demonstrate supervision skills and demonstrate success in working as a member of a team
Possess effective and strong communication skills (orally and written)
Must be sensitive to individual child’s differences and needs and be willing/able to adjust the program and curriculum to meet those individual needs
Must be motivated to learn and grow in an educational environment; and be willing to continually increase knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education (minimum of 16 hours of training annually)
Must agree to Criminal Background Check

Special Requirements and Physical Demands:

Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, bend, stoop, stretch, push, and pull
Be able to attend to a child while ensuring other children’s health and safety while in a 1:10 adult/child ratio; must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies
Be able to work in a busy and occasionally noisy environment; be able to handle offensive odors without extreme sensitivity

Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet each child in a warm and friendly manner; assist parent during the ‘drop-off’ times and have child prepared in advance for ‘pick-up’ times to assure an easy transition for all
Read each individual child’s files in his/her class and become knowledgeable about their medical and developmental histories
Interact with the children and encourage their involvement in activities
Provide a safe, warm, and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing; the environment should allow the child to grow and explore and be conducive to their optimal development
Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum; should be presented to the Director weekly and should include language and literacy domains, large and small motor skill development, cognitive, social, and emotional development
Provide overall supervision and care of child during feeding, diapering, cleaning, and changing soiled clothes and related record keeping
Maintain daily attendance records
Maintain ongoing developmental records for each child, including keeping records of all developing skills (physical, social, emotional, and cognitive)
Keep a “portfolio” of each child’s progress, including photographs, samples of activities, etc.
Maintain good communication with parents on a daily basis through the use of daily sheets, notes, or verbally; find ways to involve parents in the daily program
Assist Center Director in providing orientation and training for new staff, substitutes, and volunteers; provide day-to-day supervision and support to caregiver aides, substitutes, and volunteers, which includes sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children
Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere
Ensure confidentiality of privileged information
Maintain adherence to all state and company policies and procedures, including safety requirements and emergency procedures
Attend all staff meetings and in-service provided at the Center; attend special holiday programs and/or additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to Center needs
